As they prepare for the 2025-2026 season, the Lady Wolves varsity girls soccer team has begun preseason matches, and their record stands 1-1 after falling to the JJ Pearce High School Mustangs as of Sept. 24. The season will start on Dec. 12, and coaches and players agree there is momentum for the season.
“They have good chemistry with each other,” head coach Geoff Ajdukovich said. “We’re just trying to grow and develop that, make it stronger so we’re ready for [the] season.”
The players shared the sacrifices they made for soccer, but ultimately they continue to pursue the sport because they said playing makes it worth it.
“I can’t always hang out with my friends,” junior Taylor West said. “It takes up a lot of your time.”
Soccer was, and is, a big part of the player’s lives which makes the sacrifices worth it to them. An example of a player is Kamiah Johnson.
“I’ve been playing it since I was 3,” junior Kamiah Johnson said.
With the same love for soccer, the players have developed great relationships with each other. Nicole Varney mentions that the bond between her teammates is what she finds most special.
“It’s a really great program,” senior Tanner Hellman said. “Everyone on the team cares a lot about each other.”
According to the Lady Wolves, they think that this season will be an overwhelming success.
“We’re gonna start off slow,” A&M Corpus Christi Commit junior Madelyn Robbins said. “But by the end of it, we’re gonna be really good because we’re gonna build connections on the field.”
Following Taylor West and Sydney Bell’s pre-game ritual, play a little music, maybe have an energy drink, and come support the Lady Wolves as they begin their prowl.
“The future looks bright,” Ajdukovich said. “There’s a lot of enthusiasm.”
