The morning was less about a time to watch the sunrise, but to strengthen bonds and celebrate the dawn of senior year together. This annual tradition gave students an opportunity to gather before school in at the band pad as they watch the start of their new chapter unfold.
As she prepared for their final year in high school, senior Calista Kao said she wanted to remember these little moments that made up this year.
“It’s the only senior sunrise I’m gonna get with the rest of my peers, so I decided let’s bring friends, let’s get coffee in the early morning to watch this beautiful sunrise,” Kao said.
Between the food trucks, coffee bar and painting parking spots, senior Ori Krakowski said the morning was filled with “lots of good vibes,” and set the tone for the year.
“It’s a special year ending high school before we go to start this new chapter,” senior band member Ori Krakowski said. “With all my friends being there and celebrating the start of this year, [it was] very fun.”
And one way everyone captured these moments was through several hundred photos.
“My favorite part of it was watching everyone trying to get the perfect pictures and knowing we photobombed everyone in, like, every single photo,” Kao said. “We all collectively agreed to make a big deal out of the sunrise.”
