Anticipated Movies for the Fall

October is almost here, and with its arrival comes several new movies to the box office, ranging from thrilling horror flicks, which may have you checking your closet for a “supernatural” presence, to inspiring feature films on achieving personal success. Grab a friend and a tub of popcorn, and venture to a theatre near you to see some of the most anticipated films of the fall.
He Named Me Malala (PG-13) – Oct. 2
First, get a glimpse into the life of Malala Yousafzai, a young Pakistani girl, and her fight for knowledge in a society where girls are denied the right to an education due to their gender. Yousafzai was attacked by the Taliban for voicing her beliefs on female schooling, but refused to back down. This documentary directed by Oscar winner Davis Guggenheim, details her struggles and the results of her actions, including her speech to the United Nations. Malala, at age 17, became the youngest person to win the Nobel Peace Prize for her efforts in 2014.
Pan (PG) – Oct. 9
The elusive Peter Pan flies back onto the big screen in the upcoming motion picture, Pan. Disney strives to tell the tale of the orphan boy who discovered a new life in the whimsical world of Neverland before he met the Darling family children. The film will feature Hugh Jackman as Blackbeard, Levi Miller as Peter and Amanda Seyfried as Mary.
Steve Jobs (R) – Oct. 9
Watch Steve Jobs and get the inside scoop on the digital revolution that took the world by storm. The film will illustrate the life of the man behind technological innovations such as the IPhone and Macintosh and how his triumphs influenced his personal life. Michael Fassbender will be starring as the visionary Steve Jobs himself alongside Kate Winslet, Seth Rogen and Jeff Daniels.
Jem and the Holograms (PG) – Oct. 23
Inspired by a 1980s animated television series, Jem and the Holograms tells the story of Jem (Audrey Peeples), a small town girl who transforms into an overnight sensation when a video of her and her friends performing an original song goes viral. Her struggles with fame, friendship and family embody the heart of this musical adventure.
Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension (Unrated)– Oct. 23
In the latest installment to the Paranormal Activity series, a couple and their young daughter, Leila, find a video camera and box of tapes hidden in the basement of their new house. Upon looking through the camera’s lenses, they begin to see traces of paranormal activity occurring behind them. Before long, Leila is attacked by malevolent supernatural forces and it is up to her parents to rescue her. Paranormal Activity fans will revel at the return of young Kristi and Katie as the plot thickens.
