It is another year and another promising group of legs for the West Wolves. Led by Coach Grubbs for the boys and Coach Gardner for the girls, the sky is the limit for the track and field team of 2011-2012.
Many names on the boys track roster come from a talented football team as well as other sports. Senior Bryce Cottrell is taking his talents from the football field to the track and field, as well as junior Collin Eberle.
“After football, I just wanted a way to stay in shape,” Eberle said. “But now I really enjoy doing track, and I hope I can help contribute to a great season.”
The girls are also gearing up for a successful sprint. An array of talent on both squads will prove key in contributing to a very successful season.
Coach Gardner’s positive attitude has rubbed off on his team.
“I really like working with the girls,” Gardner said. “They are great kids with great attitudes and work very well as a team.”
Togetherness applies to any group, sport and organization and even in the classroom. Coach Gardner and Grubbs take pride in creating a team-friendly environment.
The boys and girls track and field teams have displayed all of these qualities and the results speak for themselves. Another year is almost in the books for the track and field squads representing the Wolfpack.
“This has been a fun season,” Cottrell said. “I enjoy the excitement and fun of track and I hope I helped the team to the best of my abilities.”
