Volleyball season is already in action. Summer practices and games have prepared the team for this year’s season, and the hunger to win is already in place. The girls’ spirits are up and they are prepared to share their court experience with the Hype.

“I think that we will for sure make it to playoffs and hopefully all the way to state,” varsity player, senior Mary Johnson said.

The players prepare themselves each practice with uplifting motivation. With consistent drive to achieving success, the team is always determined to win.

“We are constantly setting new goals for ourselves and trying to reach them,” junior Caitlin Sharrock said. “We all push ourselves and push each other even harder.”

The team is very focused and work at every practice.

“We are very disciplined and we keep ourselves accountable for working hard, giving 100% effort every day,” varsity player junior Jennifer Blank said.

Varsity this year differs from the previous years.

“This year’s varsity is composed of juniors and seniors which is so different from all the past years,” Sharrock said. “The past years we had underclassmen but I definitely think that helps us play better on the court because we are all so comfortable with one another.”

The level of volleyball played and the speed of the games are much different between the two teams.

“Varsity differs from junior varsity because we are required to play at a higher level and faster pace,” Johnson said. “We also have more competition.”

The interaction between both teams is extremely spirited. They support each other at their games and practices to keep them energized.

“Junior varsity is varsity’s biggest cheerleader and vice versa” Sharrock said. “At all our tournaments and games we are constantly going crazy for each other in the stands.”

The Hype has become a sensation throughout the student body. The energy given off by the Hype gives the girls energy and enthusiasm flowing.

“We feed off their energy and it gives us momentum to play at a higher level,” varsity player Mary Johnson said.

Being a part of the team is very special because the bonds they create and experiencing victories together is like no other.

“My favorite part about being on the volleyball team is the bonds,” Blank said. “We create strong relationships with each other that will last a long time.”
