Perfect AP Test Score

Not everyone gets a five on their AP exam. Even fewer make a perfect score: 33, in fact, worldwide. College freshman and former Plano West student Chris Lancaster is one of those 33.
“This is the first time that one of my students has scored a perfect 5,” economics teacher Sally Meek said. “It is quite difficult to achieve a perfect score on an AP exam.”
Over 67,000 students took the AP Microeconomics exam last May. Out of those, only 18.1% earned a five.
“We are very proud of him and extremely impressed,” Chris’ mother, Lisa Lancaster, said. “He loves the subject and it shows.”
Chris enjoys economics and is currently an economics and finance major at University of Alabama. Later on, he plans on taking part in the University Scholars Program, which will allow him to earn his Bachelors and Masters in Economics in four years or less.
“Never has any subject in school clicked so well for me,” Chris said. “I am a big fan of math and numbers, and the models and graphs we used in economics were just so fun.”
One thing that contributed to Chris’ perfect score was the way in which the class was taught.
“Ms. Meek did an excellent job of prepping us,” Chris said. “We were made so familiar with the test format and material that it was difficult not to succeed.”
Though students were well prepared, Chris did not anticipate receiving the score he did.
“I was really overjoyed when I got the notification of my perfect score,” Chris said. “I never expected anything like this to happen.”
