A Royal Trio

Prince George, 4, and Princess Charlotte, 2, are gaining a sibling. Early on Sept. 4, it was announced that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting their third child. The royal couple decided to share the news early on in the pregnancy due to Kate Middleton’s severe morning sickness. The Duchess suffered from severe morning sickness in her past pregnancies as well. While expecting Prince George, the Duchess was hospitalized for hyperemesis gravidarum, a severe form of morning sickness. Over the course of her pregnancies she has had to cancel official engagements due to her morning sickness. Members of both families are thrilled and delighted with the news. In an statement to the Telegraph Prince Harry said his sister-in-law’s pregnancy was “fantastic” and “great. Very very happy.” Clarence House said the Charles Prince of Wales is “delighted” with the news of his grandchild-to-be.

Regardless of the newest royal baby’s gender, Princess Charlotte will maintain her position in line to the throne due to the removal of the right of male primogeniture before the birth of Prince George. The newest Prince or Princess will be fifth in line for the throne, after the Prince of Wales, Duke of Cambridge, and the Prince and Princess of Cambridge. The favoured names for a girl are Alice, Elizabeth, and Victoria and the favored boys names are James, Arthur, and Philip.
