Bruno Back at it Again
November 15, 2016
“24K Magic,” Bruno Mars’ next album is set to be released by Atlantic Records on Nov. 18, 2016. This will be Mars’ third full length studio album, the first in four years since the release of “Unorthodox Jukebox” in December 2012.
The title of Mars’ album shares the same name as his first single off the album, “24K Magic,” which was released on Oct. 7, 2016. The song shows how Mars was influenced by funk, disco and contemporary Rhythm & Blues (R&B), genres that he promises to explore in this next album. “24K Magic” not only has had critical and commercial success, as Entertainment Weekly music critic Eric Renner Brown emphasizes Mars’ “attention to detail and world-class chops,” but it also contributes to the highly anticipated build up to the album.
Mars began working on “24K Magic” after his Moonshine Jungle Tour, which ended on Oct. 18 2014. Although the album was set to release in March of this year, it was delayed several months due to Mars’ featured appearance in Coldplay’s halftime performance in Super Bowl 50, held at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California on Feb. 7, 2016. Additionally, Mars has admitted that coming off the immensely successful song “Uptown Funk,” a collaboration with British record producer Mike Ronson, has made him hesitant and affected his confidence in coming back to the studio. But despite the setbacks, Mars is finally ready to release chapter three of his musical career.
Set to make an appearance in Mars’ album are a late 80’s and early 90’s inspired collaboration with Babyface, “Finesse,” a track which went through 20 different versions, and “Versace on the Floor,” described as a “Boyz II Men-ish” Mars’ unique style in modern music and artistic range prove why Rolling Stone has ranked his third album as one of the 20 most anticipated this year. It can also be predicted that hype for “24K Magic” will increase with Mars’ recent promotion on various television and radio appearances, including a Saturday Night Live performance of “24K Magic” and a new song titled “Chunky” on Oct.15, 2016.
“24K Magic” will be available on vinyl, CD and also for digital download on various online music providers. So get ready, because Bruno Mars’ next phase in music is about to take off.
