Virtual Reality Comes to Stores in Fall of 2016
May 18, 2016
PlayStation announced that in October they will release a Virtual Reality headset. The headset can track the user’s head movements and positions. The headset enables the user to make you feel like you are a part of the desired environment. The technology PlayStation is using simulates the player’s physical presence in a way that allows the user to interact with their surroundings. The price of PlayStation’s Virtual Reality system is $499.99. The headset, PlayStation camera, two Move motion controllers and the PlayStation VR World’s game disc are included with the price.
The concept of this life-like system came into mind when the novel, Virtual Reality by Howard Rheingold, was published in the 1990’s. The novel made it easier for people who were not a part of its research to understand the product and what it would be able to do. In 1991, Virtuality Gaming released their first mass-produced Virtual Reality system. The gaming system was available in many countries. As years went by, the technology for the system became more advanced. In 2015, Jaunt, a small startup company, started creating a mobile app that will contain the Virtual Reality system. Disney and the Madison Square Garden Company have funded Jaunt to make the app.
Whether you are snowboarding at a summit or defeating a zombie apocalypse, virtual reality gaming will make it feel like you are actually there.
