Get ready, rock band lovers. Edgefest is drawing near. This year’s festival on April 30 is expected to be a great one and alternative rock fans are anxiously waiting on the edge of their seats for their all-time favorite artists to perform.

This year’s headliners, Good Charlotte and Cage the Elephant, will be joined by The 1975, Blue October, Bastille, XAmbassadors, Silversun Pickups, Chvrches, Nothing But Thieves, Foals, The Struts, The Strumbellas and The Joy Formidable.

Out of all the bands performing at the festival, Cage the Elephant, which originated in 2006, is one of the main groups. They are an American Rock band born in Kentucky and are known for their eclectic sound and energetic live performances. They intend to bring that same energy to this year’s festival. Ain’t no rest for the wicked and Come a little closer are two songs from their top hits list. Take a look at some of their albums on Spotify to get a feel of what they are about.

Nothing But Thieves is an alternative band that recently boomed into the world of alternative rock in 2012. The band consists of Conor Mason (vocals), Joe Langridge-Brown (guitars), Dominic Craik (guitars, keyboards), James Price (drums) and Philip Blake (bass guitar). They may have originated in England, but they have successfully made their way across the globe to Dallas and are pumped to show this area their talent. Be sure to look out for Juno-award winning The Strumbellas. They are a six-piece Canadian band, whose music has been described as alternative country, indie rock, and “folk popgrass.”

For those who plan to attend this year’s day-long music festival hosted by iHeartRadio at the Toyota Stadium in Frisco, do not forget to bring sunglasses, a bag to hold your phone and sunscreen for protection from the hot sun. Tickets went up for sale in February on the Edgefest website and currently range from $10 to $75. Embrace the spring and start it off right with an outdoor alternative rock extravaganza. If you are into this music genre, it is a must to purchase a ticket for Edgefest and live through the music for one day rather than through your car radio.
