American Horror Story Returns to FX This Fall
September 30, 2015
The highly rated show American Horror Story (AHS) will be returning for its fifth season on Oct. 7, 2015. AHS was created by Ryan Murphy (Glee) in 2011 as an anthology series. Every season has a different storyline, setting and cast of characters. Past seasons include Murder House, Asylum, Coven, and Freakshow. However, the upcoming season, titled Hotel, is a different level of thrill and viewers are anxiously waiting.
While previous seasons of AHS have been self-contained stories, the fifth season will begin to establish connections to older seasons. Every season has clues that reveal certain events that link each season together.
Viewers of the first season, Murder House, recall the character of Marcy, a realtor who sold the titular house to the main characters of the season. She will be making a reappearance this season, connecting the dots for upcoming scenes in Hotel.
Hotel will take place in a downtown Los Angeles hotel called Cortez. The cast will feature newcomers, such as Lady Gaga and Naomi Campbell. While there are many new faces, old crowd favorites from previous seasons will be returning, such as Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Frances Conroy and Lily Rabe.
Gaga will be playing The Countess, the mysterious owner of the hotel who has a secret plan that will be set in motion in the premiere episode. Gaga herself has a bold and outgoing personality on and off set, but her enigmatic character The Countess plans to bring even more thrill and drama to the show.
Campbell, on the other hand, is set to appear for a multi-episode story arc. She will be playing a Vogue fashion editor who has a conflict with Gaga’s character. The rivalry between them adds a complex character dynamic to the show, one that will most likely end in blood.
While Murphy has not revealed many details regarding the plot, he has started a social media campaign consisting of multiple promotional videos, letting viewers know that Hotel will have vampires, two serial killers, and more.
The season will also feature a large reinvention. Aside from the fact that the show’s mythology will be further developed, the show might see some changes with its airing schedule. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Murphy hinted at a fall and spring season for AHS next year.
Be sure to watch previous seasons to help catch easter eggs and avoid confusion for this upcoming season. AHS lovers are on the edge of their seats waiting to check into Hotel.
