Clinton Prepares Comeback in Coming Election
Whether it is Britney Spears, the nineties or The Mighty Ducks, it seems that America’s favorite plot is the comeback story. Fortunately for America, this year’s first Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton has a comeback story of her own.
Comebacks on the political scene are not rare instances. For example, Richard Nixon ran for president in 1960 against John F. Kennedy and lost. Eight years later, his patience paid off when he ran again and beat Hubert Humphrey for the presidency. Although Nixon’s presidency was short lived, some expect a similarly successful return for Clinton.
Clinton has been involved in politics since 1973, when she graduated from Yale Law School. That gives her more than 40 years of experience—older than Post-it notes, which were invented in 1974. However, Clinton is loud and proud about the ‘grandmother glow’ that she emits, saying that it is fueling her campaign for female empowerment and gender equality. During her 2008 campaign, Clinton made sure to remind everyone that she was running as the first hopeful female President of the United States. She cemented herself as a woman aiming for the ‘highest, hardest glass ceiling.’ For Clinton’s 2015-2016 campaign, little change on the gender front should be expected.
Perhaps one of the most defining things about Clinton is her marriage to former president Bill Clinton. However, this year, Clinton and her team, along with her husband, are making strides to make sure that the public knows that she is running by herself, for herself and as herself, rather than having her husband’s legacy casting a shadow over her efforts to become President.
As she said in the video announcing her campaign, Hillary Clinton is getting ready to run for President of the United States. Although she already ran eight years earlier, Clinton is back at it again, with the competition for the Democratic Presidential nomination in her favor. Will she get it? The world will be watching and waiting for this comeback story to unfold.
