Throwback: Old Trends Come Back

Fashion from the nineties has returned

Fashion trends from the 90’s are slowly coming back into this year’s fashion magazines. Juniors Alex Ochoa, Maleeha Kazi and Lauren Rodemers give their opinions and perspective on a few returning fashion trends that have made a big fashion statement recently.

“Plaid skirts are really cool and interesting,” Ochoa said. “I like the whole idea of them. It is something different.”

According to Bustle.com, a fashion website, designers, such as Alexander McQueen, love the plaid pattern, and it is a current popular trend all over social media. Other fashion items such as “mom jeans” and loose-fitting boyfriend jeans are making their way back this year as well.

“I’m so happy boyfriend jeans are back because they are really interesting and fashionable,” Kazi said. “You can style them in so many ways.”

The loose-fitting jean trend has quickly become a fashion craze. Many are wearing them, including celebrities like Kourtney Kardashian.

“My favorite trend coming back this year is definitely the boyfriend jean because they flatter so many different figures,” Rodemers said.

Many old trends that returned received a lot of positive feedback. However, there are other trends that people wished came back as well.

“I really wish fanny packs were back,” Ochoa said. “They can hold everything and they’re convenient.”

Other trends that are less popular among students are making a comeback as well.

“I’m not a fan of the denim bucket hats, but I still like most of the styles coming back this year,” Kazi said.

The fashion world is filled with opinions and judgments based off of the styles coming back this year, but a majority of the people do love the returning trends.

“I’ve always been into the 90’s style in a sense,” Kazi said. “I am very obsessed with almost every trend that came back.”
