Kim Kardashian’s Book of Selfies
Kim Kardashian has taken social media by storm and exacerbated the trend of posting pictures of oneself, notoriously dubbed “selfies.” It is no secret that Kardashian enjoys taking pictures of herself; however, this A-Lister took the game to a new level in her recent summer trip to Thailand.
After being caught taking a multitude of selfies during her vacation by her stepbrother, Brody Jenner, it was announced that she was going to be turning her portfolio into a published book. This announcement was made by Kardashian’s mother, Kris Jenner, who was also on the family vacation where Kardashian admitted to taking 1,200 selfies for the book. Her arrangement of photographs were originally taken as a wedding gift to husband, Kanye West, but Kim decided she would be releasing them to the public in a 352-page book titled Selfish. This is not surprising to her fans, especially those who are a part of her 18-million Instagram followers. Kardashian updates her profile daily and posts a substantial amount of selfies to her account. Now fans can buy a hardback copy instead of browsing her array of self portraits through the Internet and by various social medias, such as Twitter and Instagram. Kardashian has even given fans advice on how to take the “perfect selfie” by suggesting optimal angles to the hold the phone and how to work the lighting.
Kardashian is not in foreign land when it comes to self-promotion and getting her fans involved with her fast pace life. This past summer a new application, titled Kim Kardashian: Hollywood, took teens’ free time away for weeks. This app allows players to create their own celebrities with the common goal to obtain fame and fortune in the game. With the success of this app, it is no wonder that Kardashian continues to branch out into other sources of self-promotion, such as the creation of this selfie book. People could not wait to download her app and maybe her book will have the same result. According to Los Angeles Times the reality star will have Selfish published and ready for purchase, in April 2015.
