Mockingjay Flies Into Theatres

Fans of Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark have been anticipating the debut of the science fiction film, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay-Part 1, and are ready for its release in November. This sequel is based on the first half of the third book in Suzanne Collins’ trilogy, a multimedia franchise, which blew up even more after being put on the big screen. The movie is set in the futuristic dystopia known as Panem and continues to follow Katniss Everdeen, the heroic symbol for hope, with her quest to save her nation after escaping the Third Quarter Quell battle. Katniss Everdeen is played by Jennifer Lawrence, who according to Time magazine earned the 2015 Guinness World Record for highest-grossing action heroine. This was accomplished through the blockbuster franchise, which has collected more than $1.52 billion worldwide. New characters will be introduced alongside Lawrence for Mockingjay, including Julianne Moore as President Coin, and Natalie Dormer as Cressida. Actor Philip Seymour Hoffman, however, will not technically be joining the cast for the premiere due to his death on Feb. 2, 2014, although he will appear in the movie during the scenes he filmed prior to his death. Supporters of the books should also expect some differences from the pages to the movie theatre, and be prepared for scenes that will go off course of the original writings.
