Trick-or-Treating Teenagers
Halloween is just around the corner and millions are preparing to take an adventure through their neighborhoods in a quest for scares, good costumes and most importantly, candy. Trick-or-treating is a tradition that people of all ages deserve to enjoy, not just children. While some would say that older teenagers have outgrown this autumn holiday, there are plenty of reasons why they should be able to trick-or-treat without being disliked by their neighbors.
One of the most difficult and demanding parts of a teenager’s life is high school, so having a night to be with friends and unwind can be a good way to ease some of the stress. Trick-or-treating with friends is a good excuse to escape the rigors of high school for a few hours. It is a perfect opportunity for busy students to get some fresh air.
High school brings a number of new responsibilities and expectations. This causes some students to grow up fast and forget what it is like to be a kid. Halloween can be a perfect time to rediscover the youthfulness that can be lost in all of the college applications and SAT prep classes.
Although some people do not like when teenagers ring their doorbells on the night of Halloween, many have fun and creative ways of handling the taller trick-or-treaters. Some make the teenagers do push-ups or sing a song at the top of their lungs in order to earn their candy. Others use the older kids as victims for Halloween scares because the teenagers will not be frightened off like the younger kids might. Either way, people should not get upset when they see teenagers walking around their neighborhoods in costumes this Halloween. They deserve some candy, too.
