Apple’s iWatch to Debut Later in 2014

Rumors circulating of a new Apple product called “iWatch” have become the talk of the town. Apple will live up to its name for keeping its customers in suspense as someone has yet to see the iWatch.

Mass speculation has indicated that it will be released in 2014, but so far nothing has been officially announced. All information surrounding the new device is merely based on rumors. The iWatch is said to be sold as a 1.5-inch display and will come in numerous sizes to accommodate all customers. It will also include a full version of iOS.

Applications that can measure glucose levels, heart rate, hydration, sleep quality and movement are said to be included in the iWatch. It is also speculated to be home-automated, allowing users to control heating and cooling, garage doors, lighting and audio from their wrist. Developments for a four to five-day battery life are also expected.

The iWatch is rumored to be made of sapphire glass. On the Mohs Scale of Hardness, diamond is the only other rock harder than sapphire, making sapphire glass one of the most scratch-resistant and durable surfaces used in high-end technology. In 2013, an Apple patent surfaced indicating a new bracelet accessory with a wrap-around screen. Though the word “watch” was not used in the patent, it hinted at a “wearable device.”

Analysts estimate the cost of the iWatch to be around $300. The new device is expected to make its debut in the latter half of 2014.
