TopGolf Scores a Hole-in-One in Plano
Top Golf is taking the golf world by storm, attracting golf enthusiasts from the Dallas/ Fort Worth area who want to test their skill by playing against each other in target-like golf games. Top Golf opened in 2000 and has since grown in popularity.
“When Top Golf first opened, my expectation was that it would be really cool to go see and play,” senior Daniel Martin said.
Many people want to go back after they hear from their friends about how enjoyable the experience is.
“I thought Top Golf was just a driving range place far out in Allen,” junior Madi Unger said. “It ended up being a really fun point system game based on your shots.”
The object of the games is to hit certain targets and get as many points as possible to beat your opponents. The targets are placed all around the park with a bull’s eye in the middle, which is worth the most points but is also the hardest to hit.
“My favorite part about Top Golf was having a competition with my family to see who could receive the most points and hit the ball the furthest,” Unger said.
Golf is a game that some people find boring, but Top Golf makes the feeling of playing more like an actual game of golf.
“When I go to Top Golf my favorite part would be just taking a couple of swings and seeing everything there is,” Martin said.
Many entertainment attractions are known to go under once their novelty starts to wear off. However, Top Golf may be different because there are endless games that can be played.
“I think in the future it will grow in popularity as more people tell their friends about it,” senior Brooke Randolph said.
There are a variety of options to keep everyone busy and Top Golf is becoming one of the most popular attractions in the area.
“I think Top Golf will be just as popular or even more popular in the future because the business has done well so far,” Martin said. “I think most people will now be going there instead of other driving ranges.”
