The quest to find the best hamburger in Dallas/Ft. Worth has sparked countless arguments. It has been the subject for controversial, yet tasty surveys in Dallas. Everyone has their opinion of what is the best burger of all time, but the definite winner has yet to be determined. To some, a good Quarter Pounder from McDonald’s is all one needs, but others want that juicy goodness that only a burger from Mooyah has.
“I like my burger well-cooked from Five Guys with cheese, tomatoes, a lot of bacon and pickles with a dash of hot sauce,” senior Will Hulse said.
The search for this mystical, number one burger is a hunger game that has no clear winner, and the search is still raging. Burger joints all over the DFW area take pride in considering their burger as ‘The Best Burger.’ The lunchtime rush here at Plano West brings students to burger places such as Mooyah, McDonald’s, Wendy’s and more. Restaurants offer their specialty with secret sauces that make an ordinary burger extraordinary. These secret sauces give burger joints an advantage over their competitors.
“I love the Brickhouse where you build your own burger double stack with onions, Chalula, mayo, tomatoes and a toasty bun with fries covered in ketchup,” senior Celine Daruns said.
Recently, there are health concerns about how many calories are in a single patty. These concerns have made restaurants post how many calories each product has as well as showing what farms their products are from. Producing humane products is growing popular in restaurants and food trucks around major cities. Many restaurants have a “build your own burger” option, giving the consumer the choice of what goes on the burger. This gives each burger a personality and makes for endless combinations. Many places also have veggie burgers where instead of a toasty bun, the burger is made in a salad wrap. However, the search continues for the best in burger-making. The opinions make for fun conversations and discussions. Even health nuts can make the topic of burgers a tasty talk. This treat will always be a lunchtime choice for students.
“I like Wendy’s because it has the Baconator that contains bacon, which is the best thing ever,” junior Phillip Woodruff said.
