With the ice hockey season underway, the Wolves rank first in their division and have secured a 4-0 season after defeating the Northwest hockey team Wednesday, Oct. 8.
Prior to that game, junior Jay Stahler, hockey team forward, #98 helped lead the Wolves to a win in overtime (5-4) on the ice against West Texas at the StarCenter in Plano, Sunday, Sept. 21
During the game, Stahler made a Texas hat-trick, scoring four goals and one assist.
“Oh, it was awesome,” Stahler said. “I was jumping up. It was just electric. It was an electric feeling out there. It was a great pass to my boy Cam [Marver], and that game, I mean, [it] sealed the game right there.”
Along with Stahler, junior Aviel Ohayon, Center, #16, helped push the team toward a win with his credit for the second assist on the third goal of the game.
“We even won leveling, so it’s good to get to come in with a good start,” Ohayon said. “Last season, that’s how it started, but it didn’t end that way, so we’re hoping to change it this year.”
According to head coach Jon Weidenbach, he said West Texas players were “just bigger, stronger, faster,” but that didn’t stop the Wolves.
“[Stahler] just threw the team on his back and carried us along,” Weidenbach said. “So, you know, good on him. He has the ability to do that. He likes to score goals; he’s got a great shot. He’s had some games like that in the past, so it’s nice he pulled one out at the right time.”
The Wolves take to the ice again Wednesday, Oct. 15 against Keller ISD in hopes of continuing their winning streak.
Upcoming Games:
- Oct. 15 vs. Keller at Plano StarCenter
- Oct. 22 @ Mansfield StarCenter
- Oct. 29 vs. Allen at Plano StarCenter
- Nov. 5 @ Mansfield StarCenter
