Keeping it Overhead

With the start of lacrosse, the team is preparing for a big upcoming season. Lacrosse is a fast-paced sport, combining the action of football and the up-and-down-the-field action of soccer. With the season just beginning, the team has put in many practice hours to do the best they can in the upcoming games.

“We did a lot of a work in the offseason,” senior Jack France said. “I hope it will pay off with a great season.”

The members of the team, such as varsity player junior Andrew Brown, have high hopes for the upcoming season.

“My goals for the team this season are for us to progress into the playoffs,” Brown said. “While we might not win the State hampionship, this year I want our team to come together as a solid group.”

While the game may be a little confusing to new spectators at first, members of the team still encourage people to come to games and show their support for their classmates.

“People should come to games because it is fun to watch,” varsity player senior Gage Bradshaw said. “Once you get the hang of what is going on it is a lot of fun.”

The team plays home games at Clark Stadium and will not go through the season without their fair share of challenges.

“The biggest obstacle for the season will be the private school teams we play,” France said. “It is always a tough match up but we have the talent to win.”

For the seniors on the team, one thing they look forward to is the Senior Night where they are recognized for their hard work and dedication throughout high school.

“Senior Night is the most rewarding part of the season,” France said. “It is something we all look forward to doing with the rest of the seniors and our parents.”

While the seniors look forward to their recognition, the juniors look forward to the relationships they build with the rest of the players on the team.

“I would say that the most rewarding thing about lacrosse is the great teamwork and friendships you are exposed to,” Brown said. “In addition to that, the responsibility you have to learn in order to become a team member.”
