Cheerleaders Up School Spirit

All the way at the front of the rowdy student section stand the Plano West cheerleaders, encouraging the crowd and the teams. Throughout the entire year, the cheerleaders have motivated the Wolfpack during pep rallies and games, showing undying spirit through their love for the teams and school.

“We are a very fun, loving and energetic team,” junior Kacy Castro said. “We all get along pretty well and love spending so much time together. We have become very close and can’t wait for next year.”

Under those Friday night lights, the cheerleaders cheered for the football teams and encouraged the students in the overcrowded stands every game night.

“I miss cheering for the football boys and being with my team,” junior Robbi Pulaski said. “Cheering at the games is the most fun part about school cheer.”

Since the end of the football season and beginning of basketball season, the girls have been attending both the Lady Wolves and the boys basketball games, cheering tirelessly until the end of the night.

“Basketball season is so exciting,” Castro said. “Watching our boys and girls teams make it so far is a fun thing to be a part of and cheer on.”

For the seniors, this year seems to be bittersweet.

“I’m going to miss getting ready with my teammates before a big game,” senior Jonee Winder said. “I really miss football season with my girls.”

Next year, the junior cheerleaders will advance to varsity through try-outs. Though seniors will be going to college in the fall, the remaining girls will continue to show their school spirit.

“I love our school spirit, and the way we all support one another and love our school so much,” Castro said.
