The West Lady Wolves basketball team is having a season for the ages. As of Monday, Feb. 6, 2012, the varsity team has an astounding 31-2 record. They have outscored their opponents by over 700 points this season. The team has cracked national headlines and is a strong bet to capture a coveted state championship title. Led by standout seniors Brea Mitchell and Paige Womack, the Lady Wolves have been wreaking havoc in District 5-A. Head Coach Don Patterson is pressing all the right buttons in the 2011-2012 campaign. Coach Patterson preaches teamwork and sharing the ball on offense. The results speak for themselves.
ESPNDallas.com ranks the Lady Wolves as the number three team in the state. The team has only lost two games, but against the best competition. With only one game remaining, this Lady Wolves basketball team has already set the school record for wins with 31. The Lady Wolves went 10-0 in District play to win the District 5-A championship title for the fourth consecutive year.
Not to be forgotten, the boys varsity squad holds their own impressive 22-8 record, and the number eight spot in the ESPNDallas.com rankings. After a blazing start to the season, the Wolves are striving to reach their ultimate goal of the District playoffs and the State championship.
