The Wolves took home the win after a comeback in at the end of the second quarter. "I go to a lot of my friends games, for different schools like [Rick] Reedy or Allen and the student sections aren’t as lively," Jones said. "I would say we're more unified, for sure. We have the same goals. Because the football team is so unexpectedly good this year, it's definitely made the student section more loud."

Plano West Reaches Top 4 in School Spirit Competition, Voting Ends Nov. 3

Plano West has reached the top four in the 99.5 The Wolf Friday Night Lights competition, which is a contest that allows community members to vote for their schools to in $2,000 for the athletic department, and voting closes Monday, Nov. 3 at 9:59 a.m.

“Our students and community always show up for each other,” assistant varsity cheer coach Grace Munns said. “The Wolf Pack spirit is strong, so it’s no surprise to see us doing this well. I’m so proud of how everyone has come together to support our athletes.”

Senior Gavin Jones is part of the varsity baseball team, and he said he believes the prize from this competition could help significantly.

“It would help us get more people out at the games,” Jones said. “Baseball will be the last sport that our seniors get to watch. We need more people to come to the games, so getting that recognition for the team is going to be great overall, so we get more people coming to the games, more funding for the program, and everything like that.”

Head varsity cheer coach Caroline Kai Josendale said she believes Plano West was always going to make it this far in the competition because “Plano West is the best school in Texas.”

“We’ve done a much better job at school spirit [compared to other schools,]” Kai said. “We’re getting a huge student section at the games this year. The pep rallies have been a lot more electric. I feel like the student body is overall more involved, so I think having that extra funds for the athletics department will just be able to grow our school pride.”
